Q1. Why did spring not come to the giant’s garden?

Ans. The spring had not come to the giant’s garden because he showed his cruelty for children. He rudely said to children that not to play in his garden. Thus, nature punished him by not giving spring in his garden. Spring has forgotten to giant’s garden.

 

Q2. What did frost and snow do in the garden?

Ans. Spring arrived everywhere around the world except the giant’s garden. Frost and snow stay in the garden of the giant. It covered up the grass with her great white cloak, and the Frost painted all trees silver. Then they invited the North Wind and hail to stay with them.

 

Q.3. What made the spring finally visit the garden?

Ans. Transformation of the heart of the selfish giant made the spring finally visit the garden. The giant’s heart melts when he saw a little child who was trying to climb on a tree but not able to reach it due to his tiny height. The giant was seeing all views from his window. The giant went near to the little boy and took him gently in his hand, kissed him, and put him up into the tree. Then the spring finally came.

 

Q.4. “How selfish I have been!” From this statement, we know that the giant has realized his mistake.

(a) What was his mistake?

Ans(a). The giant’s mistake was his cruelty and proud nature. He became very rude to children and screamed fiercely at them.

 

(b) What made him realize his mistake?

Ans (b). The nature – Spring and winter, made him realized his mistake. Spring forgotten to came his garden.

 

Q.5. How do we know that the Giant sincerely felt sorry for his action?

Ans 5. When spring came everywhere except his garden and when he saw spring came again in the garden after the arrival of children, then he sincerely felt sorry for his action and he become kind towards children.  

Q.6. Is there a moral in this story? If yes, what is it?

Ans6. Sin will punished by nature itself. We should be kind and careful about everyone because life is not immortal. Do good to get good.

Q.7. In the story, the first letters of the names of seasons and natural phenomena (snow, frost, hail) have been capitalized. Why do you think this has been done?

Ans7. In the story, the author tells about nature's important role in the life of humans. Nature playing the other main character in the story.

 

Q.8. What do Spring and winter symbolize in this story?

Ans. Spring symbolized as happiness and reward while winter symbolized punishment and sadness.
