In his works, he has written about spiritualism and immortality of the soul. “Govinda’s Disciple” is a moral poem that telling about the real meaning of spiritualism and the right ways to achieve it. In this poem Govinda playing the role of a teacher and Raghunath of a disciple. Rabindra Nath Ji trying to express his views about the relationship of teacher and disciple. By this poem he is telling about materialism creates a barrier in the way to achieve spiritualism.  The teacher sat on a rock on the bank of the river Ganga. His disciple, Raghunath came and gifted him a pair of gold bangles. The teacher took one of the bangles and started twirling it around his finger.
